I'm Sick of The Same Plots!!!

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 5, 2013, 2:41 PM
THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION SO DON'T GET HUFFY!

I have noticed that 90% of all story's, novel's, movie's, and ect. have or follow SAME EXACTLY PLOT! The only difference is basically the same story, but with different characters and setting. Now how boring is that!
It's to predictable and to blah and to... toooo... flavorless!

So, here is what I personalty don't like to see in story plots because of common repetition:

1st plot I HATE! And I mean absolutely HATE, is the:
"The Hero and the Damsel in distress."
This is exactly how its sounds. A beautiful, normally young girl gets kidnapped by a monster, dragon, or most likely by an old man who wants to marry her. Luckily a hansom young man saves her from the villain and the two live happily ever after! -_-'
(The main reason I hate this plot is because it 99.9% of the time makes the women look like shit. How does it make a women look like shit? Well first off it shows you women are only good for two things; Looking pretty and getting themselves and the hero into trouble! Now in  some plots some of the women are smart than can help the hero out here and there , but in the end they still need to be saved by... you guessed it a MAN! I dub this plot as= SEXIST!)

Examples:
Almost all Disney movies! XD I'm not joking!
Hercules
Snow White
Sleeping Beauty
Aladdin
Little Mermaid
Star Wars <- Love it, but they have to save Princess Leia.... TWICE
----------------------------------------------------------------
2nd plot I despise:
"I'm going to do whatever it takes to get the love of my life!"
This is when a low self a steam boy/girl, seeks to gain the affection of the most sexiest person in school, in town, or even the world. The hero or heroine will normally just look at this person and instantly fall in love with them, without actually getting to know there personality!!!(Hasn't society taught us to not judge people on there looks, good or bad?) The hero will literally do whatever it takes to get this person to fall in love with them, from stalking them and learning what there interest are, too leaving/abandoning there family for there so called love of there life.
(Morally this one goes against everything "I" was taught! Don't judge a book by its cover, Get to know somebody before you know if you like them, ah... don't be a creepy stalker is a good one!)

Examples:
The Notebook
Happy Feet
Twilight
Grease
Little Mermaid
----------------------------------------------------------------
3nd plot I'm so-so with is:
"The young hero/heroine, runs way from home and their problems!"
This is a boring plot to me because it normally ends either two ways. A kid runs away from home and/or their problems. After a few challenges in the big wide world they realize that his/her family does love them and they go back, or that they have to go back and face there problems head on.
Examples:
Where the Wild Things are
Little Mermaid <- Again
Little Mermaid II <-- II for II right lol
Lady and the Tramp II
We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story
Lion KING! D': (But that's my favorite movie!)

:note: Now I'm not saying these movies are good or bad, I'm just saying they have the same common plot witch makes them predictable which makes them extremely boring to me!

The point I had to make in this is break away from common plots, dig a little deeper and make up your own because if something is predictable... its boring!

  • Mood: Peaceful
  • Listening to: Rain
  • Reading: ...
  • Watching: My Fan go round and round!
  • Playing: Pokemon B2 and W2
  • Eating: Chewing on my DS stylist! lol
  • Drinking: Water

This may be true but you have to admit it sucks when they don't have a happy ending.

The first one is like that because most of those stories were written in the past when men were "superior" to women. Most of the world isn't like that today though, but they're considered classic books, and were remade into the movies we all know.

As for the second and third, I hadn't really paid attention to that.

Wow, I'd say that I agree on you on these, except the third one. The third one is near to real life experiences in most or some people. But overall, I get your general idea, I mean, I also hate to see the same plot over and over and over (and over, XD) again, no matter how twisted the story is. Though that is the most common thing that shows on TV's and Movies nowadays, which is either boring or sad.

Indeed! I agree the third plot I was so-so on, it can go either way for me. It's all about how cheesy it is for me.
I actually liked the little mermaid II be then I did the first one because it was more believable... even though it was about a kid turning into a mermaid LOL

Songs to the same, its all boring in the beginning, then theres the middle things start to get interesting, the climax is when all stuff breaks out, then the end is the calmest part

YES! Songs! I forgot about songs!
I'm personally getting sick of hearing! Die young, party party party, dance, YOLO, and blah blah blah! From every hip hop artist!
I like all types of music, but recently to me a lot hip hop songs are all starting to sound the same.

But I do love the idea of Gangnam Style. And I'm not talking about the fact that its a sell out and its everywhere, but the fact that it's South Korean Pop music.
For me its something totally new! If they start playing Japanese, Korean, and Chinese pop music on the radio, I would be a happy girl because I listen to a lot of anime songs! Even though I would not be able to understand a word they are saying, I would still be happy lol!

It's not as easy to come up with an original, unused plot, esp when writing filmaking, and comics have been being released for AGES. Is that an excuse to be just like all others? Absolutely not, but you shouldn't get angry at those who at least try to be different with the same cliched plot.

My story for example probably uses a common themed plot, but I try to make it as unique as I can =/

I'm not really angry about it, but I am pretty annoyed. Like an itch you can't scratch. Or it's like eating roman noodles every day, three times a day.

I know my comic is going to be predicable, but that's because its the prologue and its my first comic, but just over these last few years of studding story's an easy ways to the fix common plot problem is just mixing a few more plots into it! I can create a wonderful and exiting flavor!

And don't forget:

"The stupid love triangle that would kill everyone except the smart one."

"The world is going to be destoryed by monsters/demons and only a young boy or girl can save the day."

And lets not forget the

"Someone that has super powers tries to have a normal life, but they get dranged in to do something that is complety stupid."

Want me to continue?
